Looking to make the most out of a small hallway? Then Bryn Lucas is here to help with his design tips.
PAINT WALLS WHITE:
Always choose a light colour on the walls of a small or narrow hallway. Anything too dark will only make the space feel even smaller.
GO BOLD ON THE FLOOR:
Create a stunning first impression with bold flooring in your hallway. Opt for art deco style monochrome flooring or gorgeous real wood.
In order to maximize the space, avoid having too much clutter. Keep the hallway as clear as possible by well planned storage for items such as shoes and bags.
MAXIMIZE NATURAL LIGHT:
Help the space to feel brighter by maximizing the natural light. Opt for a front door with glass paneling and choose for a modern blind instead of a heavy curtain.
CONSIDER FURNITURE CAREFULLY:
Avoid placing large chunky furniture in your hallway as this will make it feel smaller. Instead, choose a slimline table or chest of drawers to create a focal point without taking up too much space.
Using mirrors will help to give the illusion of more space than their actually is or the feeling of an extra window. Consider placing a large mirror above your hallway table to help open up the space.
ADD FLOATING SHELVES:
Another way of saving space, and floor space in particular, is by having a few floating shelves on the walls in your hallway. This gives you a place to store items and display accessories to give your hallway some personality.
Create a grand entrance by displaying some beautiful antiques in your hallway. Choose one or two pieces to really impress your guests when they first arrive.
