How to Avoid Being Noticed in School
Blending in with the crowd in school is not difficult. All you have to do is be yourself. Some like to 'stand out', and have others talk about them, or point them out to others. These teens like to be the center of attention, and usually get poor grades, because they are more concerned about being the center of attraction, than paying attention to their schoolwork.
Steps
- Dress normally. Do not wear trashy clothes, low cut tops (if you're female), or very short skirts (if you're female). You do not want others to notice you because of what you are not wearing. Wear coordinated colors and have your hair neat and clean at all times. Do not wear purple or red stripes in your hair. If you want to dye your hair, dye it neatly and it should be close to your original hair color. It is best to dye it blonde if you have light brown hair, and if you have medium to dark brown, dye it red. But don't dye it black unless you have very dark brown hair because you'll be noticed in school.
- Do not keep raising your hand all the time in classes. It will make you seem to be a 'smartie', and others will talk about you. Answer when called upon, and raise your hand occasionally. You should be smart without everyone thinking you are. This way you will not attract too much attention. However, if you receive an 'effort' grade in your report card, raise your hand more often to avoid a C, D or F.
- Hang around with your own peers, those who have similar interests. Do not try to act or be like someone else, just to become popular. Do not try to be someone that you are not. Join clubs in school that interest you.
- Do not get into trouble or hang around with trouble makers. Blend in, do not stand out.
- Avoid going to parties that are held by the most popular groups in school. Everyone talks about those parties, and you do not want your name linked to them.
- Go to parties of your friends, and people you usually hang around with. Do the same with school related events. Stick to your own crowd and blend in.
- Avoid MySpace, or Facebook... the people on the web site will eventually notice you, especially if you are wearing very trashy clothes in your pictures.
Tips
- The key to blending in and being inconspicuous. Being popular is great, but be popular with others of similar or same interests. You do not have to be the 'most popular person in school"
- Be polite, smile, do not ignore others or talk about others. Being nice, and smart, is a good asset. You probably will not 'stand out', but you will be happy, and enjoy yourself in school
- Don't give out your e-mail address. People in school will bug you online.
Warnings
- Remember, your main goal in school is to learn, and build a good life for yourself in the future. Many of the friends you make now, you may never meet again. But your high grades will enable you to be anything you want to be. That is what remains.
- Nobody remembers the people in highschool who blended in with the crowd, you may have to face the embarassment of nobody knowing who are you are at your highschool reunion.
