Working with electronics can be very frustrating, especially when you have a lot of cords and you're not sure what should be plugged in where. If you're trying to connect a cable box and a dvd recorder to a television, just follow the steps below and you should have it all working in no time!
Step 1: Plug Everything Into The Wall
The first thing you want to do is get power going to all of the machines. Then take a movie and put it on 'play' in the DVD player. While this article will walk you through how to set everything up, there will probably be some trial and error involved and having everything turned on is the easiest way to make sure everything is working properly.
Step 2: Plug The DVD Recorder Into The Television
Now that everything has power, plug your DVD recorder into your television. The cords should be color coded, but make sure that you plug the cords into the Output plugs on the DVD recorder and the Input plugs on your television. If your cords are not color coded, use trial and error one cord at a time until the movie is playing correctly on the TV.
Step 3: Change The Settings On Your DVD Recorder
Now that you know the DVD Recorder works with the TV, turn off the movie. Change the settings on the DVD Recorder so that it is looking for the cable box. Each machine is different, and with some you will use the input or source button while others will be set to channel 3.
Step 4: Plug The Cable Box Into The DVD Recorder
Now you want to attach the Cable Box to the DVD Recorder. This time you want to plug the cords into the Output plugs on your Cable Box and the Input plugs on your DVD Recorder. Again, they should be color coded but if they are not just use trial and error. If you have tried every option and you still can't see the cable on your TV, make sure you have your DVD Recorder on the correct Source.
Step 5: Sit Back And Enjoy
Now that you've got everything set up, kick back and enjoy cable or a movie, whatever you please!
