If you're traveling abroad
in a few days, and just now remembered the small detail of getting
your passport in order, don't freak out. It'll cost you some
time and extra cash, but you'll still make your flight.
To get a passport fast, you'll need two 2"x2" identical passport
photographs of yourself, proof of citizenship, a valid photo ID
(like a driver's license) and about $160. If you're just
renewing, you'll need your old passport and the cost will be a
little lower.
Step 1: Find A Passport Agency
Find the passport agency nearest you.
Step 2: Get An Appointment
You can call 24/7 to an automated line and schedule an appointment
at 1-877-487-2778.
Step 3: Show Up
Don't show up more than 15 minutes late; you'll have to
reschedule. Make sure you have all your documents ready to
go, as travelers around you who are afraid of not getting their
passports on time may be freaking out.
You'll walk out of there with your passport and your sanity.
Life or Death Emergencies
If you're in a serious jam, call the National Passport Processing
Center at 1-877-487-2778. Use the phrase "life or death emergency",
and that'll be their cue to call these passport agencies for you
and do everything they can to help you get your passport.
If All Else Fails
If the passport agencies are too far from you or you're about to
give up, visit the CIBT website. For a fee,
the CIBT agency could be your savior - they may even meet you at
the ticket counter with your new passport.
Happy international travels.
