MAKES 12 GOOD-SIZED ROLLS. These make a change from ordinary sausage rolls.

500g minced pork

2 garlic cloves, chopped

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

3 teaspoons soy sauce

½ teaspoon five-spice powder

1 quantity of rough puff pastry

Step 1:
Preheat the oven to 200°C/gas mark 6.
Step 2:
Combine all the ingredients, except the pastry, in a bowl and use your hands to massage the garlic and flavourings into the meat.
Step 3:
Roll out the pastry until it measures about 30cm square.
Step 4:
Divide the pork mixture into 3 equal sections and roll each into 3 sausage shapes the length of the pastry.
Step 5:
Cut the pastry into 3 sections and place a sausage down each one. Brush the edges with a little water. Fold the pastry over and press the edges together to seal. Cut each sausage shape into 4 sections and place on a greased baking sheet.
Step 6:
Brush with egg or milk if you wish and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until golden brown.
