Don't want to miss something even when you feel terrible? Fool
yourself and others into believing you're ok, at least for a short
time.
Steps For a Cold
- Take allergy relievers (Benadryl works well, but will make you
sleepy), fever and headache medications, cough drops for sore
throats (gargle with salt water to relieve throat further).
- Get lots of sleep and use concealer to cover up those dark
circles. For girls -- use an eyelash curler and foundation/powder
and blush to avoid looking pale.
Steps For a Stomach Virus
- Take Pepto Bismol (or a generic brand) to stop stomach
pain.
- If you have to throw up, use a bathroom on a diffrent floor
from where your parents are.
- Immediately brush your teeth or use mouthwash so as not to
smell weird.
Tips
- Take vitamins if you notice cold symptoms coming on.
- Run water to cover the sound of vomiting.
- Theraflu Severe Cold & Sinus non-drowsy (as of 2002) has
the highest dosages of all the medicines, and every kind of
medicine used in most other cold medicines. You can use it, and
stay awake.
- If it is a sporting game that you can't miss participating,
playing sports is not a bad thing, the adrenaline rush from doing
so is a great distraction, as long as you don't play physically.
For example, in basketball, if you are normally a slasher that
drives to the hoop a lot with lots of physical contact, stay back
and take jump shots, even when it's out of your element, at least
until the adrenaline kicks in and you feel less ill.
Warnings
- Benadryl will make you sleepy.
- Ematrol may make your stomach worse.
- Always take the minimum doseage possible to avoid
overdosing.
- If you run a fever over 100, give it up; you should be in
bed.
- Never take medicine on an empty stomach; it will just make you
throw up.
- Be considerate of others, try to stay away from other people
when you are really sick - or they will catch whatever nasty bug
you have.
- If you push yourself hard when you are sick, instead of getting
healthy in a few days you get sicker. Your body needs to rest, and
if you dont give it that willingly, you may have to give it
unwillingly later when things get really bad.
