Looking to satisfy your sweet tooth? Then why not give this churro waffle recipe a go, it’s dead easy to make and includes one magic ingredient – chocolate sauce.
280 g Flour
260 g Caster Sugar
1 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
1 tsp Bicarbonate of Soda
1 1/2 tsp Salt
3 Eggs, Separated
500 ml Buttermilk
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
200 g Butter, Melted
3 tbsp Cinnamon
150 g Dark Chocolate
300 ml Double Cream
Strawberries to Serve
STEP 1: WARM UP WAFFLE MAKER
Turn on your waffle maker and allow to warm up.
STEP 2: SIEVE DRY INGREDIENTS
Sieve the dry ingredients into a large bowl and give it a mix.
STEP 3: MIX INGREDIENTS
In a separate bowl mix together the buttermilk, the egg yolks and 100g of the melted butter. Add the vanilla and stir well.
STEP 4: COMBINE MIXTURE
Pour the wet mixture over the dry mixture and combine slightly. Don’t overbeat the mixture.
STEP 5: WHISK THE EGGS
In a clean bowl whisk the egg whites until the form soft peaks. Fold into the waffle batter.
STEP 6: CREATE WAFFLES ON MACHINE
Brush the waffle irons with melted butter and then add a large ladle of the mixture. Allow to cook for about 3 minutes. Continue until all the mixture is used up, brushing the waffle iron with melted butter between adding the mixture.
STEP 7: BRUSH WAFFLES
Mix together 200g sugar and the cinnamon on a large flat plate and while the waffles are still hot brush with some melted butter and then dip them on both dies into the cinnamon mixture.
STEP 8: CHOCOLATE SAUCE AND SERVE
To make the chocolate sauce, gently heat the double cream in a saucepan. Add the broken up chocolate and stir until all the chocolate has melted. Serve the waffles with chopped up strawberries and the chocolate sauce.
