Why are my nails thin when the acrylics come off?

Carla Kay (Celebrity Manicurist) gives expert video advice on: What are 'acrylic nails'?; What are the pros and cons of having acrylic nails?; How can I tell if acrylics are right for me? and more...

First of all, if your manicurist is clipping off the acrylic in between fills because they're lifting, that is taking layers and layers off. If you have somebody that's applying acrylic in the proper way, they shouldn't be lifting. They will just grow out from the cuticle area onward and then you blend it into the bottom. It's over clipping of the product, it's over filing, it could be drilling the nail bed which is breaking down the plate. There are many reasons for them becoming thin with acrylics.
