An anal fissure is usually diagnosed by a physical examination; an examination through anoscopy which gives us the tool to evaluate the lining of the anus and the rectum. Potentially, endoscopic manoeuvres, by using a camera with a light source, may need to be performed in order to further evaluate this lining.
