How do we protect ourselves from those who own guns?
The best way to protect ourselves is again, to have strong police departments. To have security program in our own home; a security system, lights, a dog, and to just be aware of what is going on. Most of the guns that are out there are held by a few individuals. It is while the number of guns in the country is significant; the number of homes with a gun is declining every year. What we find are a lot less people own guns, a lot less people hunt and a lot less people want guns. So the homes with guns might have a hundred guns, and that might be a legitimate hunter or collector, or it might be somebody who is paranoid about the government going to take him on someday. But most of us can be safe in our homes by relying on our police departments, by relying on our security systems, and again I am not anti-gun. I have got no problem with someone having a gun for personal protection if they think they need it, if they know what they are doing with it, if they keep the gun safe. But often times we find that it is not the case. People who have a gun , they do not keep it safe, they do not keep it unloaded , they do not keep it locked, and it is accessible to kids, and that is where it ends up getting stolen, getting misused accidentally, or ends up being used in a fight.
