How should a child rehearse for an audition?
I personally – and other casting people would have different opinions – but I personally think that children actors are better when they're natural. So unless it's honestly learning lines, where you're just literally learning the lines and writing them down or getting them into your mind, if there isn't dialogue involved I don't think they should rehearse or practice anything. I think that the roles for commercials are typically written for a child. They're written for the child to be a child; they're not written so the child can be something else.
