How can I compare banks and the services they offer?
In comparing bank accounts when trying to decide where to open up a bank account, there are a number of factors that one needs to consider. Some of the factors are financial, others are personal. It's important for somebody who wants to have bank accounts to have them in a place that's reasonably convenient for them, so that when they want to make deposits or cash a check, they can get to that particular institution easily. So that's an issue in comparing bank accounts. The other issue to consider in comparing bank accounts is: are the financial products that they offer you going to fit your needs? If you are going to have a checking account, is it going to be a free checking account or are there going to be fees attached? Is there going to be a monthly fee and a per-check charge fee? You don't know until you ask the question and you should ask the question. Because if the institution that you are in is going to have fees that are higher than you would anticipate or that you are comfortable with then there will be another institution a block or two further away that will have a different offering but yet still will provide you with the same services that you could get from a checking account or a savings account.
