Beryllium is a metal or it is used in very specific industries. In the past it's been used most commonly in nuclear related industries, in the aerospace industry and in belated high technology fields. It now tends to be used in areas outside of those industries. Individuals who were previously being identified with beryllium related lung diseases are most exclusively from those types of industries.
