How do you train for a competitive eating contest?

Ian "The Invader" Hickman (Competitive Eater) gives expert video advice on: How do you train for a competitive eating contest?; What training techniques work best for competitive eating?; Should competitive eating beginners train at home? and more...

I would advise not to train. It is not safe to do it home without supervision without having an EMT or whatever you think I'm just trying to cover the bases here. Personally I train eating green beans. I prefer French cut style because I like to bite and swallow, not too much water aid in that. You are able to get a high poundage up with doing that as well. I know that a lot of eaters train differently. Some people use water. Some people use Gatoraid. Some people use spaghetti. I have heard of oatmeal, dry oats. I have heard of rice, many pounds of rice. Dry rice because it expands in your stomach. There is a whole slew of things you could train with but the idea is to find what works best for you if you are going to do that- which I do not advise you do. But if you do decide to do it, you need to find what works best for you.
