What training techniques work best for competitive eating?
Ian "The Invader" Hickman (Competitive Eater) gives expert video advice on: How do you train for a competitive eating contest?; What training techniques work best for competitive eating?; Should competitive eating beginners train at home? and more...
The question for what techniques work best is really vague on whenever you're training. It depends on what kind of contest you're going to be going into. I personally like to train for capacity so I try to emulate in whatever I'm training with in bulk to get to a certain poundage that I feel that I'm comfortable with. When ever I say comfortable I mean it's extremely uncomfortable but really depending on the contest. I know a lot of eaters like to train for a minute like do a sprint with if they're doing a hamburger contest you know. Do some hamburgers you know see how many they can get down in a minute and that will kind of give you an idea of how you're going to do in the contest because you're going to start trailing off after that first prime minute or two. So go as hard as you can the first minute with that food if you're going to train that way and get proof from there.
