What are some conspiracy theories involving Julius Caesar?
Well, Julius Caesar's case is, I think we'd say, unique. We know that he was assassinated at the Senate, stabbed possibly 26 different times. But the question is; how did this occur? Is it possible that Julius Caesar actually committed suicide indirectly? He had been suffering terrible spasms, or seizures, from epilepsy. Very embarrassed about this he could hardly function. He was depressed about this. He also apparently had rumors that an assassination attempt might be coming from at least two seers and possibly other sources. Yet on the day of his assassination he dismissed his Praetorian Guard, so he was unprotected. And just before that, he made out a new will naming Augustus, his grandnephew, as his successor. So it looks like he went into the Senate knowing he would be killed, and perhaps thought instead of dying a horrible death from epilepsy, let them kill him and he would go down in history because of this famous assassination. And that did indeed occur. His was the best known assassination until perhaps that of Lincoln and later JFK, but this helped secure his place in history. Would he have done that, well people who are suffering terrible physical ailments sometimes commit suicide. So in a sense, he may have conspired against himself, allowing himself to walk into a suicide attempt, which was successful.
