What are "high-beams", and when should I use them?

Reed Berry (Driving Expert) gives expert video advice on: How can I make my car safer for night driving?; What should I do if I can't see because of an oncoming car's high-beams? and more...

High-beam headlights are stronger, more powerful headlights designed to be used in areas where you need more lighting, like mountain roads and canyon roads that tend to be very dark. But high beam headlights are only designed to be used when other cars are not around, so if you see another car approaching from behind or in front of you, always dim your high beam headlights and use your low-beam headlights.
