If you're involved in a car accident, the first thing you have to do is stop. You're required to stop in the event of a car accident, that's the law. Another thing you want to try to do if you are involved in an accident is try to prevent further collisions by signalling other drivers on the road. And you can do that with flares, or even your hazard lights. The next thing you want to do if involved in an accident is exchange information with the other driver: your insurance information, your driver's license information, name and address etc. And then if possible try to get statements from any witnesses that are present at the scene of the accident.
