How can I encourage my child to try writing a poem?

The very best thing that you can do is just read them poems at bed time. People think that it's some sort of magical jump or leap that you have to make. But, if you fill your child's head with voice of poems, that would probably be sufficient. If it's not, the next thing you could do is show your child that you write poems. We got a strange idea that we somehow get children do things that we would not want to do ourselves.
