How can I prevent getting genital herpes?
Herpes is a sexually transmitted disease when it's genital herpes. You should always use protection, condoms. But oftentimes condoms do not cover the areas where herpes virus is transmitted or where the patient's getting a breakout. So oftentimes there's not much you can do. A lot of patients don't even know they have herpes breakouts when they have them because some don't have pain. And some patients shed the virus all the time, even when they're not having disease. But that's how the virus gets transmitted to one person to the other. So the best thing you can do is limit the number of sexual partners you have and use protection.
