In 1978 the CBS Network broadcast the first collegiate national championship held by International Cheerleading Foundation. Because of that, it helped the cheerleading world have more respect and recognized how athletic they are. In the year 2000 the first world cheerleading competition was held in Germany. There were 12 countries involved. Third place was Germany. Second place was Chile and first place was the USA.
