What is a 'home run' in baseball?

A home run happens in two scenarios. One is when the player puts the ball in play, the other team does not commit a error and he is able to circle the bases and come all the way home. That's called an inside the park home run. The second one is the more traditional home run where the ball goes over the fence in fair territory.
