What do I do if my child refuses to potty-train?

Scott Cohen (Pediatrician, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center) gives expert video advice on: What do I do if my child refuses to potty-train?

If you're having problems with "potty-train", I would just say take a step back and try not to worry about it and let your child do what they want to do. You know, really it comes down to is readiness, and everybody is ready at a different times, some before two years of age some after two years of age. So, the best thing to do is to make it fun for them. Offer it and try your best not to make it a big deal because the more you push them in one direction the more their going to go in the opposite. Some children like even the feeling of pull-ups so putting them in pull-ups may make them feel like a big boy or big girl and make less accidents. Sometimes, as in the summertime parents just let their children run free and naked because then when they feel it coming they are more apt to run to the potty. But every child's a little different, so you're going to find what work best, but the key is to make it fun and don't worry.
