The first thing is to try not to escalate the situation. You could be probably a situation where if you perceive that you're at risk, actually running when that's not been escalated at all might actually in itself escalate the situation. People might perceive that you are then a potential vulnerable victim, when they didn't think that before. That said, if you are under threat and people are coming towards you quickly and you do run, it's important to think about where you're going to run to; don't make thing worse by running into a poorly populated unlit area. Try to run towards a main road, a club, or a pub, or an entertainment venue where there's lots of people; a high street or somewhere where there is CCTV. So basically, try not to run and make the situation worse by escalating it, but if that does happen and you do run think about where you're running, to make sure that it's somewhere safer than where you're actually running from
