Most insurance plans do cover hospice care. If you find out in the terms of your plan that there isn't hospice care provided, contact your insurance company. Ask for a case manager. Tell them you're in a catastrophic situation and would like to speak to a supervisor or a department that may handle these special situations. Even if you don't have a hospice benefit, your insurance company may be willing to switch out another benefit for that one or find a way to accommodate this type of care, so that you're loved one receives care through the plan just like they would if they were on Medicare.
