How can you prevent sea sickness?
Charles Triay (General Practicioner) gives expert video advice on: How can you prevent sea sickness?
Seasickness is a condition whereby you feel very nauseated and sometimes dizzy as a result of an over stimulation of your organs of balance in the inner ear from unexpected and continued movements. The best way to prevent seasickness, in simple terms under conservative measures, is to firstly, be on a full stomach. To travel by ship on an empty stomach makes you much more susceptible to seasickness. Secondly, the movement has to be counteracted by you attempting to focus on something that is not moving. You need to try and be somewhere where you can see a horizon and therefore try and focus on the horizon so your body can anticipate the irrational movements the sea might produce, but you can understand the stability of a horizon. Then beyond that, one would need to consider medication. There are numerous medications that can prevent or treat seasickness and they would have to be consulted with a doctor.
