How do I protect myself while traveling in a vehicle if I'm pregnant?

Stephanie Tombrello (Child Passenger Safety Educator & Executive Director, SafetyBeltSafe USA) gives expert video advice on: How do I protect myself while traveling in a vehicle if I'm pregnant?

Well, the most important thing that women can do is to put the safety belt on properly. You want to make sure that it's between your neck and the top of your arm, across your chest, and the lap belt is as low as possible on the tops of your thighs. Keep it nice and snug and never move it under your arm or behind your back. Be a passenger because, especially as you get to the later period of pregnancy, you're actually so close to the steering wheel that you're almost in what one position is called, the uterine crusher position. So, although we're not trying to tell pregnant women they can't drive cars, it is an advantage if you can be a passenger.
