If you're a sports fan, for example, or you always want to know the weather in your neighborhood, you have the opportunity to personalize your experience of landing on "your" Yahoo page, or "your" Google page, or "your" ESPN page. And when pages like this can be customized, they essentially become your personal portal. Rather than being the same kind of landing page for everybody, there's a way that your experience of entering this portal becomes customized to you, and still it's a portal, because it has got a lot of links and through-ways that can let you through to other parts of the Internet.
