What are the similarities and differences between an intersex person and a transgender person?
Intersex people and transgendered people are different because some intersex people are facing a congenital condition that is manifested very detectably through different physical tests. Transgendered or transsexual people are dealing with sexual and gender issues that are not so easily diagnosable, and often seem to come more from the soul and the heart than from a chromosomal test. But by and large both intersex and transgendered people face similar issues of discrimination from society, stemming from society's discomfort with our failure to conform to the either/or gender binary. Although we're very different in a lot of ways, we often pool our resources to get legal and sexual rights.
