What foods affect my skin?
There's many myths and half-truths about diet and the skin problems. There are some things that, for example, can make acne worse. If you're prone to acne, some foods that are very high in iodine content, and this includes some salts, some marine foods such as seaweed that you might eat at a sushi bar, and certain prawns that have very high iodine content, can make acne worse. There's a few people that genuinely do get worse with eating lots of chocolate. But in general, chocolate and acne, if you look at a hundred people you're not going to see a close link, but you will see individuals that may have that problem. If you're one of those individuals where you find something that worsens you, if you eat very spicy food and your rosacea gets worse, you'll have to sadly avoid or reduce the spiciness. If you drink lots of cups of hot tea and your rosacea gets worse, reduce that. If you drink a fair amount of your favorite wine and your psoriasis gets worse, reduce it. These are the things to look for in diet. It's personal connections with your skin problem rather than an overall guidance. Overall guidances for the skin are to eat a healthy diet with multiple supplemental vitamins as you would for general health, including fresh fruits and fresh vegetables as part of your healthy diet.
