What should I expect after liposuction surgery?
Steve Fallek (Plastic Surgeon & Medical Director, Face Focus Medical Spa, New York City) gives expert video advice on: What should I expect after liposuction surgery?; Will I have to take time off from work after having liposuction?; Can I get other plastic surgery procedures at the same time I receive liposuction? and more...
Depending on the area involved, you're going to feel pretty sore after liposuction. There's going to be some bruising, some swelling - a lot of black and blue. I tell patients they almost feel like they got kicked or punched, or they went to the gym and really worked out more than usual. Don't expect that you're immediately going to fit into a smaller suit or dress after liposuction. Don't immediately assume that you're going to lose weight because there is some volume and fluid that's put into patients and that takes a couple of days to resolve. Usually, you really start to see some results about a month after liposuction.
