I have no facial hair. What's wrong?
Charles Triay (General Practicioner) gives expert video advice on: I have no facial hair. What's wrong?; I'm male and my breasts are growing Is that normal? and more...
If a patient has no facial hair, one needs to consider whether the patient has actually developed adequate secondary sexual characteristics. Facial hair in men is a response to male hormones which appear during puberty. Therefore, if the patient has been through puberty and has no facial hair, he would need to consult with a doctor who will asses whether he has other features of secondary sexual characteristics. That means pubic hair, auxiliary hair, whether his genitals are of normal size, normal development, etc. The doctor would take it further if he considers that there is the possibility of any other abnormality, such as a hormonal abnormality or an inherited chromosomal abnormality - a genetic disorder
