Cord blood is very controversial. It's a little bit of a business. You have to bank your cord blood, you have to pay rent for the cord blood, either monthly or yearly, depending on the organization that you use. And the applications for cord blood are currently many. But in reality, we don't see cord blood used very often, if at all. I think the idea is that you are banking the cord blood in the remote chance that you need it later on and you'll have it, just in case.
