Hart Crane was a poet, he was very popular back in the early part of the twentieth century, and I guess his death has the most famous farewell words. It was kind of understated like some of his work. He was on a steamship headed back from Mexico to the States, and he got up on the railing, and when everyone was watching he said, "Goodbye everyone," and jumped off the side. His body was never found.
