Do I need a specialist to diagnosis osteoporosis?
Frederick Singer (Director of the Endocrine/Bone Disease Program, John Wayne Cancer Institute ) gives expert video advice on: Do I need a specialist to diagnosis osteoporosis?; How will my doctor know if my osteoporosis medication is effective?; What if I have a fracture while taking my osteoporosis medicine? and more...
With regards to osteoporosis, I do not believe you need a specialist to diagnose osteoporosis. That may affect my income as a specialist, but that's life. I think as a patient you need a doctor who has some knowledge of osteoporosis and who knows about ordering bone density tests, but you don't need a specialist to do that.
