What are college 'internships'?
Internships are opportunities for students to study and work at the same time. It's a college credit opportunity at a local business or other agency and gives the student the opportunity to get on-the-job work experience. Internships are often offered through an academic department, or they may be offered through the career center. Internships are opportunities for students to apply what they learn in the classroom to a real life employment situation. Internships are usually offered by companies, agencies, and a variety of industries. They are often for credit, and sometimes they can be paid or not paid. Students who pursue an internship are getting valuable on-the-job experience and are often making connections for when they graduate, so that they have a future contact or even possibly a job offer when they are finished.
