How can I choose the safest parking spot?
There's no one single answer to where is the safest place to park your car. It really depends on the time of day, It depends on what the parking is attached do. Is it in front of a residential house? Is it in front of a commercial business? And what time of day is it? Are the businesses still open? Is there a lot of foot traffic? But the answer always is the safest parking spaces are ones that are highly visible. They're going to be well lighted at night, if you're parking there at night. There's lots of traffic, both in passing vehicles and foot traffic is the best kind of assistance for you. There's lots of eyes and ears and movement about. The worst kind of parking places are the ones that are remote, that are isolated, that are dark at night, that if you needed help and you had to scream, would anyone hear you? Would anyone respond or intervene? If you have to park in an underground garage or a high-rise parking structure, it's best to park on the lower floors, simply because more cars drive by going into the structure and they also drive by on the way out of the structure. There's lots of traffic to and from where you're parked, so there's lots of opportunities for witnesses and someone who might intervene, should you have a problem. The bad places to park are up on the high floor or on the very bottom floor in a subterranean parking lot, because you're isolated. You're more remote. There's going to be less traffic down there. The other bad place to park is up against the wall, where you have a blind spot. You can't see around the other side of the wall. Sometimes parking next to a high-profile vehicle is not the next choice. So when you approach your car after shopping, you want to be able to see clearly all around your car before you walk out to open that door. So find that spot that's highly trafficked, that's highly visible, and you can approach clearly without any blind spots.
