Possible causes of rectal bleeding may include bleeding from haemorrhoids which is very common condition, bleeding from diverticulosis which in is pockets in the lining of the large intestine, bleeding from polyps which are generally tissues which grow along the lining of the large intestine, bleeding from conditions such as colitis which consists of inflammatory changes that can occur on the lining of the large intestine, or potentially bleeding from a cancer or tumour that is growing on the lining of the large intestine.
