What factors should I consider as a base runner when the ball is hit during a baseball game?
The factors you should consider as a base runner are a few things. Number oneconsideration would be; is the ball hit on the ground or is it hit in the air. Number two; is there a force-out, meaning if you're on first base, there's automatically a force-out on second base if the ball's on the ground. If you're on second base and there's a runner on first base, there's a force-out at second base and third base. So the idea is if there's a force-out and the ball's on the ground you have to run to get to the next base. If it's not a force-out, then you don't necessarily have to run. Secondly, if the ball's in the air, you have to make sure the ball lands before you try to move on to the next base because if it's caught then you have to retreat back to your base because if the ball beats you back to the base then you're going to be out there as well.
