How do I stay healthy while working long hours?
Everyone has their own individual idea of "healthy". You have your own personal best, your own personal idea of what's healthy for you, so there isn't really any cut and dry solution to that. What I can say is that there are some constants, and the constants are: find your own personal best, your own personal goals, and then try to do things throughout your day that help you to meet those goals. And if you have certain fitness goals, if it's about eating well, do things that are conducive to you meeting your goals. If it means packing a little ice box at home, a little lunch pail and putting healthy snacks like have an orange or have a cottage cheese. You know in today's society, everything is individually packaged, great 100 calorie serving sizes of things, and pieces of fruit that are pre-sliced and cleaned for you. There really isn't any excuse for not eating healthier or doing what you feel is right for you. Just, it's a matter of investing the time in yourself and having enough self-respect to say, I'm going to be out on the road for 15 hours today and I don't, you know, I'm going to be working long hours and I want to have things at my disposal that help me to be at my personal best. That helps me to think clearly. That feeds my mind and nourishes my body, and makes me feel good. And, you know, if you do that it's very possible to eat healthy and make the right choices. If you make choices at 6 AM in the morning or the night before, you plan out what you're going to take I plan out what I'm taking and put it in the refrigerator. I'll pack an orange or these great little apple slices in a bag and pack some protein or a protein shake and a couple bottles of water, and I'll have it ready to go in the morning. And I'll just stick it in a little lunch pail and take it with me and it's in my car, stays cold all day, and I have healthy snacks at my disposal so I'm not tempted to go through the drive through or you know working through a blood sugar low that makes me grouchy towards the people working for me.
