What factors should I consider when leading off of second base during a baseball game?
The factors you should consider when taking a lead off second base are a little trickier than first base. This is because, you now have to worry about two people - not just the pitcher, but really the second baseman and the shortstop, because no one is holding you on the bag. Where on first base, the first baseman is holding you on the bag. At second base, no one's holding you on the bag, so to speak, no one's standing on the bag waiting for the ball so in a way it's a little deceiving. It allows you to get a longer lead than you maybe normally would take.
