How do I know if a talent manager is reputable?

A talent manager is somebody who is going to be able to appraise talent. If they see you walking down the street and say, "Hey, I want to sign you as your manager." Make sure that they have seen your work. You should read a monologue, sing a song, something that lets them have an understanding of the level of your talent. There is also the Talent Managers Association where you can check with them to find out if a person is reputable. And I think for sure you don't want to be paying out any money to a talent agent up front, for anything. Pictures and resumes, that sort of thing. This is a good sign that they are not reputable.
