How deadly are tornadoes?

Michael Largo (Author, "Final Exits") gives expert video advice on: What are the chances of dying from an avalanche?; What are the chances of dying from a meteor?; What is the likelihood of dying in an earthquake? and more...

At least 100 tornadoes occur each year of the size and magnitude that can cause harm to humans. 15 people die from tornadoes each year. And one of the problems with tornadoes is developing a warning system, because it's one of those natural occurrences that sometimes only give people 2 or 3 minutes to take cover--as opposed to some other natural disasters, like hurricanes, where there's a long warning period. So the fatality from tornadoes occurs when people are caught unexpectedly such that over the last 50 years, they're much more deadly than the meteor-grabbing hurricanes; tornadoes kill 15 each year.
