What chemicals may be found in my CRT monitor?
John Shegerian (CEO, Electronic Waste Recyclers) gives expert video advice on: What is 'hazardous waste'?; Why is my old TV considered hazardous waste?; Why are the plastics found in e-waste dangerous for the environment? and more...
The CRT monitor has two main chemicals that are really bad for us. The leading one is lead. Again, if that cathode ray tube makes it to a landfill, and then gets compromised or broken at the landfill, and then the lead then leaches into the water or the ground supply, and eventually makes its way back through the environment to animals or people, that lead can harm life as we know it, healthy life as we know it.
