What should I do if I think something in the air at work is making me sick?

Roy Artal (Pulmonologist and Critical Care Physician) gives expert video advice on: What are the main types of occupational lung disease?; What should I do if I think something in the air at work is making me sick?; How can I protect myself from occupational lung disease? and more...

The most important thing to do is to consult with your physician. There are many things that could make one sick, and not all of those are necessarily related to the workplace. Along with that, I would definitely recommend that you consult with the materials supervisor at your workplace. Every workplace is required by law to have what's called a Materials Safety Data Sheet, which essentially lists all of the toxic compounds that are present in the work environment, and if you have a copy of those, and if you consult with your physician, that should go a long way towards evaluating concerns about a workplace exposure.
