What are some lesser known US destinations for couples?

I think there are some really amazing U.S. destinations that are good for couples. I think anything that involves a national park is a fantastic destination for couples. I think some of the river rafting experiences that are available - Utah, Colorado, Oregon - are all terrific couples vacations. I think there are places that we tend to overlook that are great for couples like Austin, Texas, which is a really amazing music capital of the world. Also, places like Scottsdale, Arizona, which in the summer can be very, very thrifty, and has some amazing resort hotels that can be really good value because obviously it's hot in the summer. Those can be incredibly relaxing U.S. vacations if you just need to relax, play a little golf and stay by the pool: great opportunities at not a huge price.
