I think couples actually have an advantage if there aren't kids involved. You might want to involve the peak summer destinations, because that's when kids are out of school and places are going to be more crowded. If I were a couple, I would consider travelling to the U.S. in October or maybe early November, or I would travel in the winter. I would try to avoid travelling at times when there are school vacations. I would make sure that I know when the Spring Break schedule is and try to avoid those destinations that are particularly attractive to High School and College students. Couples do have flexibility that families with children do not, and they should take advantage of that.
