With regards to vehicle options, extras and accessories, a towing package is generally considered to be a key group of equipment which is added to the vehicle. The actual towing equipment is at the back of the vehicle where the hitch is going to be attached. With a towing package, often brakes will be upgraded; a transmission cooler will be added to the transmission to make sure that it doesn't overheat from the additional weight you're pulling when you are towing.
