Can my wedding location affect my wedding cake frosting?

Abbey Zegar (Executive Pastry Chef, Sugar & Spice Cakes) gives expert video advice on: Can I put liqueur in my wedding cake frosting?; Can I use jam instead of frosting between my wedding cake layers?; What is 'jam frosting'? and more...

Your wedding location can affect your wedding cake. If it's very windy - let's say you're on a beach and your reception is on the beach site - beware of winds, because winds can kick up sand into your cake. If you are at an open site, an open reception, where it's going to be hot, the heat of the sun can melt your frosting on the wedding cake. Make sure that you know what time of day you're going to have your reception and adjust for that and protect your cake. Put it up in a tent or have some kind of covering over it to protect it from the sun or any other natural effects.
