What is 'jam frosting'?

Jam frosting is typically a fruit preserve, and I make it here in the kitchen for use on wedding cakes. I use fresh fruit like strawberries or raspberries and put it over the oven or the stove; I break the sugars down, add a little bit of sugar and then add a little bit of gelatin. Then you have your jam or preserve.
